Alex has worn many hats during his 3 years at Vim, and now supports the providers we work with as network operations manager.
Why did you go from a system with a million lives to an early stage start up?
I knew the status quo was not good enough to reduce the increasing cost of healthcare while achieving improved outcomes and customer (doctors + patient) satisfaction. There needs to be bold tech-focused, forward looking companies who can learn from the past, but are not entangled in the present. Vim is uniquely positioned to work with all healthcare parties to impact the cost of care.
What have you seen at Vim that makes you excited about the future of healthcare?
Simply, the people. We are a smart, passionate bunch that tackles the difficult real world problems in an elegant way.
How have you influenced Vim with your healthcare knowledge?
Healthcare is not simple by nature. It involves many different parties, misaligned interests, artificial obstacles, and to top it off, significant technology barriers. I’ve seen many of these issues first hand, and so I help us understand + aid in solving the problems in order to make healthcare simple. Plus, I love talking healthcare 24/7 to anyone willing to listen.
What was the main reason you joined Vim?
I wanted to join a healthcare company whose singular mission is to bring down the total cost of care and can accomplish this by bringing together health plans, employers, doctors and patients. In a fragmented system where not only patients but doctors have to make herculean efforts to navigate the system, I wanted to join a company that will make this process simple and intuitive.
What three adjectives would you use to describe the Vim culture?
Smart, resilient, and direct.
What is your spirit animal and why?
My spirit animal is a wolf according to an online study. So, it must be accurate. I plan to continue to dream on it.
